ZIZO Bolt declared toughest iPhone XR case at CES 2019 after CNET's drop-test finale.
ZIZO Bolt was the only case to survive CNET's 2-lb steel-ball impact test at CES 2019 — simulating a 100-foot fall onto concrete.
Las Vegas, NV — January 15, 2019 — After surviving CNET's extreme drop challenge at CES 2018, ZIZO Wireless returned to CES 2019 and did what few expected — won again.
In CNET's iPhone XR drop test, 10 rugged cases were dropped from an elevated platform (approximately 20 ft). The ZIZO Bolt Series was one of six finalists to successfully protect the phone from damage.
But the true test came next: the "Breaking Point" challenge, where a 2-lb steel ball was dropped from 4 feet onto each phone's screen — simulating a direct impact comparable to a 100-foot fall.
Only one phone remained intact: The ZIZO Bolt.
"This wasn't luck. This was engineering. We design for the worst-case scenario. That steel-ball test proved Bolt is more than rugged — it's elite."
— Vicente Navarro, ZIZO Wireless spokesperson
According to iMore's CES 2019 recap, the Bolt was the only phone that wasn't completely demolished in the final round — beating cases from Catalyst, Griffin, Gearlock, Caseology, and others.
The Bolt's success is owed to its hybrid dual-layer armor, 9H tempered-glass screen protector, kickstand, and 360° holster clip. Following the test, ZIZO issued an official media statement naming Bolt the "Toughest iPhone XR Case @ CES" — and celebrated a rare back-to-back drop-test win at the world's biggest tech stage.
